Teaching skills: Subject delivery and understanding 'learning'
The essential skills of a teacher consists of mastery of Content AND Communication, with both parts strongly dependent on each other. All the intensity or preparation of the content can come to naught with little communcation skills, while one is not a performer or salesperson to only rely on communication.
Similarly, there is no point in excellent delivery, if one has not guaged the reception or internalizing by the students. A good teacher would be amiss to leave the latter to the student, without a basic assessment at least. Reception is deeply dependent on mental state of the student, and environment created.
Mental state while psychological, is not subjective, and can be assessed on parameters. There are simple tools for a teacher to be in control of both content and communication, going gently between the two, with a deep sense of empathy for the students and love for the subject, so that knowledge is transferred.
